Pending vs. final earnings
An earning starts pending and only becomes final once it's paid — here's the difference.

Every earning in Kief moves through a couple of stages before it's actually paid.
The stages
- Pending — Kief has recorded the earning, but it hasn't been paid yet. While it's pending, it can still be corrected, held, reduced, or removed — for example if the sale was voided or returned, a contest was paused before the sale, or the earning is under a fraud or dispute review.
- Approved / batched — for a payroll earning, it's been claimed into a payout batch at the pay-period cutoff. It's still technically pending until a Program Administrator approves the batch, but your payout method for it is already locked in.
- Final — the earning has been posted as store credit, or included in a payroll batch that's been approved. A final earning is paid, and the Company does not take it back because a customer later returns the product or a manager later voids the sale.
Note: On your Earnings page, a payout batch's status shows as In review, Approved, Sent to payroll, or Paid — that maps to where it is in this process.
Why this matters for you
- If you notice something odd about a pending earning, that's the time to flag it — see if an earning looks wrong.
- Your payout method (payroll or store credit) is locked for a contest the moment any of your earnings on it is posted or batched. See choosing store credit.
Check where your earnings stand any time on your payout history.
